How to get NetBSD
Formal releases provide a stable, supported platform for use in production systems. They are also the proper choice for starters and for everyone who wants to get to know NetBSD. The latest formal release is NetBSD 6.1.2 (release information).
Downloading NetBSD 6.1.2
Download an ISO image via BitTorrent
or FTP. If using FTP, choose a server
from the list of mirrors, change into the
6.1.2directory, and fetch the ISO image for the relevant port.
Download NetBSD 6.1.2 via
HTTP: Change into the
6.1.2directory and fetch the files for the relevant port.
NetBSD 6.1.2 (and previous releases) can also be ordered as CD-ROM sets.
More information about the NetBSD releases:
NetBSD-current is the development version of NetBSD. Builds of -current generally provide more features than formal releases, but have not had the same degree of testing, and should be avoided on production systems where possible. They are aimed at developers, experienced testers, and early adopters. More information is available at the NetBSD-current page.
